Meet Your Art Instructor

Hi, I am Grace Strahan!

I’m a Teacher: I have almost 10 years of art teaching experience in everything from private lessons to after-school education to homeschool co-ops. I have taught kids of all ages kindergarten through ninth grade. I am also a homeschool grad who has completed a three-year program in writing and business.

I’m an Artist: I am a professional artist who has been drawing and painting seriously my whole life, and is continually developing my craft. My specialty is character and illustration-style art, and my work is displayed publicly.

What I Teach: I specialize in teaching drawing skills, with a sub-focus on painting.

What I Believe: I believe that art is an important tool for training our brains how to see the world. It is far more than an extracurricular. Drawing in particular can teach perseverance, hand-eye coordination, critical thinking skills, problem-solving, as well as providing an outlet for emotional and mental health. I am a proud Jesus-follower who seeks to use art to highlight the truth all around us.

My Goal: I aim to provide kids and young adults with a chance to learn fundamental drawing skills and problem-solve their existing artwork, getting feedback and encouragement with a real artist to help them move forward.

What Skill Level I Teach: I will teach any skill level (though it greatly helps me when a student knows what skill they want to learn, or artist they want to be like someday).
